Alabama Consumer Fireworks

Specifically permitted

Items that comply with regulations of the CPSC, DOT definitions and trick noisemakers.

Specifically prohibited

Manufacture, possession, sale or use of “illegal ground salutes,” fireworks containing more than 2 grains of explosive composition.

Selling period

June 20-July 10 and December 15-January 2 Sales from tents or motor vehicles are prohibited.

Age of purchase

16 years, unless accompanied by adult.

DISPLAY FIREWORKS

Display Permit

Apply to the State Fire Marshal at least 10 days before display date. (The Marshal may accept late applications if a higher application fee is paid.)

Insurance

None specifically required in state law.

Operator

No license specifically required in state law.

MANUFACTURE, STORAGE, TRANSPORTATION

Safe storage areas as specified in law.

LICENSING

Annual licenses required, by calendar year expiring December 31. Apply to State Fire Marshal. Minimum age 18 years.
